Six Reasons Owners Come to Escapement
Written Scope Before Work Starts
You receive a written assessment with costs before we touch anything. No guesswork.
One Person, Start to Finish
Your watch is handled by the same watchmaker throughout — not transferred between staff.
Regular Communication
Progress updates at meaningful stages — not silence followed by a bill.
Finish Level Agreed in Advance
For polishing work, the finish approach is confirmed with you before any refinishing begins.
Part Sourcing With Owner Input
When parts need replacing, options are shared with you before anything is ordered.
Function Check Before Handover
Every repaired watch is tested for correct operation before it leaves the workshop.
Fourteen Years of Movement Work
The lead watchmaker at Escapement has spent fourteen years working with mechanical movements of varying complexity — from basic lever escapements to more involved complications. This depth of experience means a watch is assessed with context, not just a checklist.
- Experience across vintage and modern movements
- Familiarity with a wide range of brands and calibres
- Honest about the limits of our scope
When experience is genuine, you notice it in the details — the right questions asked at intake, a more accurate timeline, and a repair that addresses the actual problem rather than an assumed one.
Each job follows the same structured path: intake with photographs, written assessment, owner approval, the work itself, timing check, and return. This means nothing is skipped and nothing is unexpected.
A Consistent Method for Every Job
Reliability in repair work comes partly from skill and partly from process. At Escapement, each watch follows the same documented path — reducing the chance of something being missed and making it easier to communicate clearly with owners.
- Photographic intake record for all pieces
- Written assessment shared before approval
- Final function check before every handover
Kept Informed, Not Left Waiting
Many workshop experiences are defined by uncertainty — you drop something off and hear nothing until it is ready, or ready-ish. At Escapement, communication is part of the service. Particularly on restorations and longer jobs, you will hear from us at each meaningful stage.
- Contact provided at assessment, mid-stage, and completion
- Unexpected findings reported before acting on them
- Direct line to the person doing the work
Knowing what is happening with your watch — particularly a sentimental or higher-value piece — is not a luxury. It is part of a professional service.
Pricing at Escapement is set per service, not adjusted based on the watch or the owner. The price you are given at assessment is the price at handover, unless additional work is approved by you during the job.
Pricing That Makes Sense
Our service prices reflect the work involved — spring and stem repairs from ฿4,500, polishing from ฿10,500, and full restorations from ฿29,500. These are fixed starting points, not opening figures subject to revision.
- Prices stated at assessment stage
- No price changes without owner approval
- Parts costs itemised separately
How We Compare
Escapement vs Typical Repair Shops
Many general repair shops handle watches alongside electronics and other items. The difference in approach matters.

What Is Different Here
Things That Are Not Standard Elsewhere
No Work Without Assessment Approval
We do not begin any work until the written assessment has been shared and approved. This is not negotiable — it protects you and it protects the watch.
Older Pieces Handled With Appropriate Care
Vintage and sentimental watches are not rushed or deprioritised. They receive the same documentation, care, and communication as any other job.
We Turn Down Jobs We Cannot Do Well
If a watch requires tools or expertise outside our current scope, we say so rather than proceed and produce poor results. Honesty about limits is part of our standard.
A Local Workshop You Can Visit
You can drop in, discuss a watch in person, and see where it will be worked on. For anyone who values that kind of directness, it matters.
